The Center for Regenerative Therapeutics was established in April 2015.
Our aim is to innovate new therapeutics on the basis of stem cell biology and regenerative medicine. Stem cells, which have the remarkable capacity to both self-renew and give rise to many types of more specialized cells in the body, have great therapeutic potential in regenerative medicine. They are also an invaluable research tool for probing the disease mechanisms that underpin cancer, aging and a host of other health problems. We focus on the research on pluripotent as well as tissue-specific stem cells from the viewpoint of basic medicine and regenerative medicine. We also promote research on disease-specific iPS cells as a tool for unraveling the pathogenesis of various diseases, screening of therapeutic compounds and developing innovative therapies. We also nurture young researchers and technical specialists who will play an active role in the next generation.
